Gems of Google Streetview

October 6, 2010

Recently I’ve been sketching a lot of buildings, trying to build up some more skills in that area. It’s been raining a lot around here, so I turned to Google streetview for reference. IT IS AMAZING.

I love it.

You can see everything from the ruins of pompeii to the penguins of Antarctica. Below are a few of my favourite places that I’ve found so far. If you find any amazing or picturesque places, please let me know and I will add them!

The Shambles, York.

This won Google’s prize for most picturesque street in Britain and it’s not hard to see why.

Brian McClendon went to Antarctica and brought along a streetview camera. Penguins!

‘Nuff said.

A new addition to Google Streetview, Ireland has been largely catalogued, including this view. Bonus points to anyone who can figure out where this is!

(I love the google camera shadow on the bottom left, it looks like a celtic cross-very appropriate!)

Remember to send in your favourite streetview images and share this fantastic resource with us all!
